APRIL 21, 2009 - I continue to get some very interesting e-mails from readers in various countries, with questions, feedback, and ideas. Keep those messages coming, to author@economicsforeveryone.com. I will reply to everyone.
Here are some excerpts from some of the recent messages:
Joyce in British Columbia writes "The book club to which I belong has been reading Economics for Everyone. Thank you for investing the time and energy in your project -- it's clearly more than 'just' a book. It's a very valuable tool."
Andrew is a public librarian in Mississauga, Ont., and told me: "In the way you talk about real economics, I'd think you'd be pleased to know that real readers (i.e. public library patrons who are readers and who are not necessarily retail consumers of books) do not allow your book to stay on the shelf for very long -- I've since ordered multiple copies!"
Terry is an activist with OPSEU, the provincial government union in Ontario. He wrote the following: "I have really enjoyed reading your guide to the economics of capitalism and the associated educational materials posted on the e4e site. The labour movement ... has not done anywhere near enough to educate and train members and activists to lead workplace discussion on the economic issues. This left us vunerable to neo-liberalism and the associated attacks on both private and public sector workers. Your book and the associated materials on the e4e site are welcome tools to assist us in changing this reality."
John in Ottawa writes: "Though I am a 'policy junky' and have worked in and out of the Federal Government for most of my working life, I have not ever come across such a comprehensive, well thought through, well written and easily understood book on economics as yours. Your book is precisely what has been missing for the better part of more than half a century: a progressive, critical but fair review of the strengths and weaknesses of the capitalist system."
